1972 Drag Racing at Santa Pod Raceway Part 2

In 1972 Ian Turbuville and a few friends made a short movie at Santa Pod in 16mm film as part of his second year degree course in fine art at Nottingham University for which he got a BA hons II. Sadly the 34 year old film has suffered some deterioration over time and the soundtrack wasn’t able to be saved but what’s left is some fantastic footage of teams like the Stones Tee-Rat,and a classic match race between Allan Herridge and Dennis Priddle. Also loads of other stuff from the day like the Firebrewed Pro Stocker.

THE MUSEUM OF WAX (1987) by Charles Ludlam (part 2 of 3)

For more information, please go to: www.outfest.org THE MUSEUM OF WAX is one of two 16mm films Ludlam shot in the late 1970s and was left unfinished at the time of his death from AIDS in 1987. Until the recent digital re-mastering and the addition of a new score by original composer Peter Golub, it had not been seen in over 20 years. THE MUSEUM OF WAX was digitally re-mastered by Queer/Art/Film, the monthly art and film series held in New York City. The original 16mm film print and new digital masters are now archived with the Legacy Project at the UCLA Film & Television Archive. A special thank you to Everett Quinton, Peter Golub, Ira Sachs, and Adam Baran.

Bathurst – The Lost Art – Part 1

Part 1 of 2 The magic and mystique of Mount Panorama is something very powerful and so too is the Bathurst 1000, a race that has been in the forefront of the Australian sports psyche since 1963. Modern day television brings all the drama and action to the armchair viewer, but there’s an era of the race that has sadly disappeared. From 1963 to 1983,the race was captured on 16mm film bringing to life an era of racing that seemed more carefree than the world we live today. This documentary delves into this bygone era, featuring interviews with Phil Judd and Phil Heywood, two of the many people who contributed to a classic era of Australian film and motor racing. This is a short I made as part of the Certificate II – Screen course at Gymea TAFE, NSW, Australia (C) 2008 Beast Productions
