Super-8 (ou Super 8 mm) é um formato cinematográfico desenvolvido nos anos 1960 e lançado no mercado em 1965 pela Kodak, como um aperfeiçoamento do antigo formato 8 mm, mantendo a mesma bitola. Super 8 mm film, also simply called Super 8, is a motion picture film format released in 1965 by Eastman Kodak as an improvement of the older 8 mm home movie format, and the Cine 8 format. The film is 8 mm wide, exactly the same as the older standard 8 mm film, and also has perforations on only one side. However, the dimensions of the perforations are smaller than those on older 8 mm film, which allowed the exposed area to be made larger. The Super-8 standard also specifically allocates the rebate opposite the perforations for an oxide stripe upon which sound can be magnetically recorded. some of my film cameras. varying from 8 to super8 to 16mm. all in some kind of working order. some will even run with film in! Recorded on June 5, 2009 using a Flip Video camcorder.

I’m looking into getting a Super 16mm film camera – I have my reasons even though most everybody else is using DSLR video. I am semi-familiar with the Krasnogorsk, Kino, Bolex, Aaton, Arri, and Cinema Products but I am interested in any information on these cameras. I know the Krasnogorsk is available from Kiev USA with a 6 month warrantee and the configuration I want is about $2,200 (no motor drive so I can use single frame feature for animation and Nikon lens mount). I am also curious about Bolex and a great condition used one with a warrantee might be just fine. I think the Aatons and Arris are probably way out of my price range. I am not interested in renting – I need to OWN the camera due to the way I shoot and with the amount of time it takes to use film doing animation buying the camera might even be cheaper. I am not a novice filmmaker but it has been a very long time since I’ve used any 16mm cameras so I’m hoping to get some input from you folks. Thanks to all who provide helpful answers!

Super 16 is just regular 16mm with sprocket holes only on one side – the same way Regular 8 film “turned into” Super 8 film. It is unusual but a lot of TV shows are shot on it – you’d be surprised.
